The Mosque dedicated to Grand Vizier Fazil Ahmet Pasha, Conqueror of Chandax

There are always many of the faithful there, because it is next to the market and the bazaar. It is eighty feet wide and deep. Over the mihrab (prayer niche) there is a small dome resting on four columns. Above the old building with its cypress wood ceiling there is a lead roof. The mihrab and pulpit are of the finest artistry decorated with panels of crystal. The mosque is bathed in light. A wide avenue passes in front of the mihrab. To the east there is a garden of Irem (garden of paradise). The mosque has three portals. One is small; the central one is the largest and has three doors. The third portal opens to the east. The portal to the left looks on the left courtyard, where there is a cistern and a fountain. Above the fountain, which is a masterpiece, there is high lead-covered dome. The architect showed originality in placing the dome on six slender marble columns. The entrance for the faithful is on the left of the mosque. It rests on beams and has a carved lead-covered wooden ceiling. To the right there is a tall new minaret, which is a priceless work of art.
