The Kul Kethunda Zulfikar Aga Mosque
"Another chronicle:
"When Evlia saw this mosque, his chronicle read: May the Eternal God, Pursuer of sin and Assistant be in this building. In the [Muslim] year 1080."
Well, my esteemed brothers, there is no other such mosque in Chandax, or perhaps even in all Muslim lands! It was a Greek church and already had a stone dome. Nothing on the interior is made of wood. The doors and walls were decorated with designs, but it now has a thousand times as many designs and ornaments. All the walls are covered in gold patterns. It is a well-lit mosque...
The mosque's minaret was an old bell tower, but its roof was constructed in accordance with minaret architecture and a balcony was added for the call to prayer. It is a work of art. Being set in a Garden of Irem three hundred paces wide, planted with roses and hyacinths, the mosque is like a pavilion in paradise. Its domes are covered in red limestone plaster. All around are the students' rooms, the school, the mendreses (seminary) and other fine buildings. There is no other such mosque in Chandax or elsewhere. May God protect the world!"
